Updates from Cali

We had such a great time in California! It was a very rejuvinating trip. John and Conrad did a lot of biking. I think John's favorite day was when they went to Northstar Ski Resort to bike. He did not have to bike up any mountains that day...they were able to ride the ski lift. Lisa and I attended some awesome yoga classes.

On Wednesday, we drove 3 hours to Yosemite National Park. What a beautiful place. We drove around a little and then took a 3.5 mile hike to Cathedral Lakes, which are these lakes up in the mountains. It was gorgous. To see more photos, check out our photo album link at the top. We hung out at the lake and had some lunch. Giacomo was great all day, except towards the end when he got tired and couldn't fall asleep in the hiker pack.

Wow! What a busy summer

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything. Three months! It flew by. Things have been very busy with work and home and the blog thing has just taken a back seat. This week, that is hopefully going to change. John, Giacomo and I are currently in Truckee, CA ... our most favorite spot in the world. The weather and surroundings, like always, are beautiful. Our friends Lisa & Conrad just bought a new house (like 2 weeks ago) and were grateful enough to still let us stay with them for the week. John and I are enjoying some much needed vacation!

Here is a photo of John and Giacomo walking through the meadow behind Lisa & Conrad's new house.

John flew his bike out and has already been able to enjoy a ride. I will keep you updated as the week goes by.

Giacomo had his first plane ride! He did awesome! Here is a picture of Giacomo and John on the plane.

The first leg, from Cleveland to Phoenix was 3 1/2 hours. He did not sleep the entire time and was pretty squirmy but he was very well behaved. The guy directly in front of us said "Wow, I didn't even know you had a baby back there" when I went to the bathroom to change his diaper 2 hours into the flight. That's how good he was being. John walked him around in the Baby Bjorn at the Phoenix airport and he got a much needed nap. We sat in the bulkhead row all by ourselves during the 1 1/2 hour trip to Reno. That was great. Giacomo was able to crawl around.

We were terrified that the time change would be miserable for Giacomo's sleeping schedule. He is not the best sleeper as it is. We spent a few hours in the sun last evening and kept him awake until 6:45 p.m. He slept until 7 a.m. PST the next morning and then went back down for a 2 hour nap at 8:30 a.m. It was a great start to the vacation.

Dada

Giacomo started saying 'Dada' today. Grandma Yuratovac heard it first. When he got home, he just kept saying it...Of course, until his Dada was in the room! Hopefully Mama is next!

First Vacation

John, Giacomo and I spent the long Memorial Day holiday at the family cottage in Frankfort, Michigan with John's cousins. Unfortunately, it is an 8 hour drive away but Giacomo was great in the car. On Friday, we drove in the evening and he slept a lot of the way. Monday home he needed some entertainment, which would be much easier if I didn't get car sick in the back seat. Anyway, we had a great time despite the crummy weather. The temperature stayed mostly in the 50s and low 60s. It did get up to the 70s on Sunday late afternoon. It was nice to spend some time in the beach in the sun. Here is Giacomo enjoying his new beach toys. The weekend went way too fast ... as most holiday weekends do.

Future Ohio University Graduate

I wanted to get a picture of Giacomo wearing his first pair of shorts on. He just happened to have on his OU T-shirt. Doesn't he look happy to be sporting the Ohio gear? I think he is definite Bobcat material!
