Baby's growing & Mommy's shrinking
Giacomo will be 6 weeks old this weekend! He is now 10 pounds 14 ounces and almost 22 inches long. I, on the other hand, put on a pair of my "before baby" jeans yesterday. Yipee! OK, I only found one pair that fit but that's a start. It's the first time I was able to wear a belt in almost 10 months.
It is amazing how much Giacomo has changed in the last 2 weeks. He is smiling and cooing. He watches your face when you talk to him and he loves when you sing. He is taking naps in his crib during the day. At night, he is still typically sleeping 4 hours at a time. I was hoping for closer to 6 hours at his age and weight but I'll take what I can get. He really is a great baby and he is starting to be so much fun. For a while there, I really didn't think I was going to make it. He never wanted to be put down. I figured I was going to starve or go crazy from exhaustion. Now, there are times when he would rather hang out on his activity mat or in the swing than be held. I guess I should have been careful what I asked for. I am sure he will only get more independent from here on out.
We introduced a bottle last weekend. Once a day I am pumping and John is giving him a bottle. Although the first attempt was kind of a disaster (I used too large of a nipple .... oops), I think it has become a great bonding experience for dad and son. John seems to look forward to his 7 p.m. feeding every day.
